Voltage Inc. JAPAN Announces Nintendo Switch Ports Starting With 今宵、妖しい口づけを/Enchanted in the Moonlight

Posted in Otome Games by

Last week, Voltage Inc. announced that they’ll be porting their “most popular titles” to the Nintendo Switch. All selected titles will be available as digital-only on the eShop.

Enchanted in the Moonlight, the first selected title, will be available in both Japanese and English. It will be split into two separate “games”. The first part, 今宵、妖しい口づけを ~雅・京牙・沙門編~, will include characters Miyabe, Kyoga, and Samon. The second part, 今宵、妖しい口づけを ~綺龍・千影・雪之丞編~, will include characters Kiryu, Chiakge, and Yukinojo.

“Is he only after my power?

Or is this love real…?

You live a normal life until the day you’re attacked by otherworldly ayakashi, intent on stealing the special power you were born with.
Your saviors also happen to be ayakashi, five very handsome ones!

“We’ll protect you, human.
But in return… You must offer your power to one of us.”

No other information has been released, so there is no word as to whether or not the base games will only have the Main Stories or if they will include the entirety of the main storyline (Epilogue, Sequels, etc.). The eShop does offer DLC sales for games, so while there is a high chance that anything outside of the main storyline will be included as DLC, the question remains if it applies to everything other than the Main Stories.

Personally, I feel like Enchanted in the Moonlight is not the best title to start off with. It might just be Voltage saving the best for last, which is most likely Kissed by the Baddest Bidder.

While I’m happy that the Switch is getting more otome games, it does irk me that it’s mainly ports from mobile games. One of the things I love about console/PC otome games is the amount of work put into them. They’ve got a higher quality development, which typically means better and longer story writing, better music compositions, more endings, and overall just a better experience in playing them compared to mobile games. I absolutely believe that Voltage is capable of producing and releasing a game up to console game standards, but they just… don’t seem to want to.

Which is what concerns me with these ports. Unless Voltage does something about it, that’s all they’ll be: ports. They won’t add anything or make the story or gameplay better. There won’t be the addition of voice acting or more endings, or anything that will warrant buying it again on Switch except for the sake of having it and supporting Voltage. Will Voltage make it worth it? I can only hope so.

Both parts are set to release in 2019.

According to Voltage’s official Switch page, at least two more titles are set to be released on the Switch.

Happy playing!
